Up Up and Awayyyyy

I'm trying to will my soul into excitement about vacation and there are a few sparks here and there. I'm starting to remember the quiet hum of air conditioners you hear on walks around the island. That complete change in sound that happens when you walk over that last dune and onto the beach that makes everything really blowy and loud. That long grass that always rubs your ankles in a very annoying, uncomfortable way.

Then there are the road side stands of veggies, seafood and the best thing evah: boiled peanuts. Now, I wouldn't recommend eating a bag full the same day as, say, a date. But do it somehow. And don't you dare buy the ones in cans. It'll be the above but way worse.

Here's what's left to do:
1. Slap some clothes in a bag
2. Gather the sand toys and fishin' poles!
3. Get a net for crabbin!
4. Get the cooler out and get ready to pack some foods
5. Load ipod with podcasts and tunes out the wazoo for long trip entertainment
6. Load ipad with movies...somehow...anyone know how to do this?
7. Get rest of bebe & daddy's stuff together.
8. Sheets, towels and pillows to pack...also my job
9. Car games, toys and books for bebe
10. Pack sandwich stuff...don't forget.

So basically everything. Tonight the hair goes. So sick of it sitting on my neck. I'm going for a Tilda Swinson layered-up-the-back thing. Picture for sure...if it looks ok. I even have a coupon.

Have a nice day,
Molly

Monday by Numerous Numbers

1. I took a walk today for the sake of taking a walk and seeing some nice people.
2. Worked out today, thank goodness.
3. I have to write a 5 paragraph paper tonight and I couldn't be more excited about it.
4. Dinner tonight is chicken legs and squash, so there's that.
5. Potter will make you cry.
6. I hope to be in bed at a decent hour...and actually be tired at that point and not cranked on the magic juice of my brain.
7. I could use a good belly laugh
8. My life is completely about distracting/protecting myself from my brain.
9. I could use a positive surprise
10. I'm doing stupid things this week already. I need to shut it down.

Keep it together, Molly.

Gym Rat

I used to give my SIL a hard time about going to the gym for hours at a time, but I'm starting to get sucked in myself. Now, I should clarify that I don't spend hours at a time there (because I fucking hate going there), but I'm starting to get that thing where I have to go every single day and if I don't I'm thinking of what I can do at home that will count as some form of exercise. I'll do lunges while I'm walking down a hall way or leg lifts and bicycle legs while playing with Bebe. Crazy? Just scratching the pretend surface.

I'm off to listen to a Podcuddle...because that's what one does when one wants to feel better about things. It always works. It was also the podcast that made me thing "hell, if these guys can get away with this for an entire hour (sometimes more) I can totally do this podcast thing." And I don't mean that ugly. I love those guys.

Yeah.

Manic Week is Happening....

I've been working out every day (along with other activities) and that seems to be helping me with the madness. I will say that my workouts are laiden with rage. It was slightly anticlimactic yesterday raging at the gym mid morning, when everyone at the gym seems to have an average age of about 70 years. Obviously I was feeling pretty strong.

We only have about 2 weeks left until our trek to NC for a family vacation. It'll be nice to get away and even nice to return. But then starts the countdown clock to school starting back up and I couldn't be less excited about it. Seriously. I'm madly in love with the free time to think and do and be. I'm scarred and depressed so I'm going to change the subject now.

Excited about another show. I'm learning as I go and am having fun just writing, writing, writing all week long. I'm just now realizing what good exercise it is to write out my schtick long form. I now need to figure out how to write a joke....I'll get there.

I need to go run around, all this sitting is making me insane...er.

Weekend Recap

Greetings from KY!

It was a full, long weekend with lots of play time with Bebe and Co. Really had fun doing the show Saturday night and had a great call-in segment with the ever fabulous Kim. Her top ten lessons learned from her first music festival experience are below, please enjoy. I have also linked to the Jell-O cake recipe I recounted for you. Here's to a great week and month ahead.

Also, a special thanks to Andy for risking life and limb to not miss the show!

Jell-O Cake

Kim's Top 10 Lessons Learned for
Music Festival Attendance

10

Bring your own food - you'll want enough cash to get festival specialty foods, but you'll be broke (not to mention sick) if that's all you plan to eat.

9

Dress in layers - your attire must be flexible enough to accommodate a wide temperate range.

8

Bring full sized garbage bags - they are handy for covering your chair if it rains.

7

If you have peeps meeting you at the festival, get good at looking around and waving your arms frantically.

6

Bring a hat - scalp sunburns suck.

5

Don't leave your chair after dark - it is impossible to find your way back.

4

If you HAVE to leave your seat after dark, bring a flashlight or glow stick , it's helpful when trying to find your way back.

3

If you can avoid dehydration, drink very little, so nothing will need to come out.

2

If you HAVE to go to the bathroom, sometimes the port-a-potty is a better option than the real bathrooms.

1

If a middle aged woman approaches, avoid looking at her chest - she may be bra-less.

Things I Have Zero Interest In Today.

1. A presedential election and the prospect of having to endure unwieldy campaign spending at a time when people need politicians to come up with solutions and set the bar on cutting extravagance...let alone the endless campaign commercials that are sure to start this summer. The T.V. might just go off for a few years.

2. Any and all sexy picture scandals by politicians. I do not care what people do in their spare time, even if it is in the congressional gym locker room. This is a waste of taxpayer time and money and takes attention away from important issues. Their infidelity and narcisism is their business. I blame the commercial media, but not Rachel Maddow.

3. People who don't read and are not aware of what is going on in the world. Here's a blog that can cure that: The Goat Rope

4. The 3+ weeks left until my vacation starts....but I'll live.

Love,
Molly

Road Trip Thursday

Lets see, I got up this morning at 5:30 so I could clean out the car. I passed on doing that last night so I could relax in front of the boob tube after a few hours of packing and foolin' with my iPod (why can't this be easier?) before going to bed. I've loaded up my little blue magic machine with some new Adam Carola and Marc Maron podcasts and new-to-me tunes from my "Shawn" collection on the old external hard drive. I'm really excited about the Jimmy Rogers Blue Yodel No. 9 record. I have to say that I'm getting better and faster at packing for these little trips. But I do hate the 5-6 trips back up stairs to grab the 5-6 little, yet important, things I can't seem to grab all at once. I was sweating up a storm this morning as I was walking out the door. Classy.

I'm sad to leave my old man today. I was hoping for a date night this weekend but that will have to wait until late next week. We are really hoping to hear some good news on the job front today or tomorrow. Send those good vibes/prayers to KY. I'd like something to celebrate.

I'm thinking of my friend Genderist and her family and hope they are all having a stellar time out west this week. I hope everyone sleeps in all week so she can have some time to herself...or more sleep.

I'd better go do some work and think happy thoughts.

Happy Thursday,
Molly

Headed Up Yonder Hills Again, Y'all

I'm headed back home, most likely, tomorrow night after work with Petite Bebe in tow. But in order for that to happen, many chores need to take place this evening. We're talking cleaning out the car, laundry and some quick packing. It very ambitious....we'll see how I'm feeling about it this evening. Sadly, no time or money to make a massive batch of chex mix.

We are headed home to attend the annual family reunion on my paternal grandmother's side of the family. A good WV Irish lot. I haven't seen many of them since my wedding, and most of them before that. I'm excited to see Bebe play with all the other little great grand-babies. Should be a big time. Baby Sister will be there, so that will help me immensely. Daddy's staying home again. Lets just say...this is the last time that will fly. But if he doesn't really wanna go and I'm aware of that, I don't want him to come and be unhappy and bored. So, there you have it.

My online class begins officially tomorrow. I'm going to get started watching my videos today so I can get ahead a bit before I leave town. I'll still have homework to do tomorrow and Friday but I'm good with it. It is what it is. And that, my friends is: Intro to Statistical Reasoning. Cheers.

Stay tuned for the details on Saturday nights show in just a few moments. Have a kick-ass weekend. Hey, go make some chex mix and then call in to the show! I'm a freakin' genius.

Rokken with Dokken,
Molly
